Post Using Group Password on Windows Client?

Hi,

I have each one of my customer's servers with the Dynu IP Update Client for Windows 5.3.

I can login with my username and either the account password or the IP update password but I don't like the idea that these PCs have saved credentials with the ability of accessing my whole Dynu account and potentially mess all my DNS infrastructure. I mean, it only takes a customer to open the client and play with location in the settings to cause trouble...

I tried setting up a Group with a password for each customer but the Windows Client does not allow me to login with the Group Password, this would be ideal, assuming the group password only allows the client to update records associated to that group...

A new version of Windows client is under development to support group password and it is expected to be released in the upcoming month. The Chrome extension already supports group password.

Awesome! that is great news. Couple of questions about this group password and these new clients:

- If I have 3 hostnames associated to a group, can I update only one of them using this group password and the hostname parameter without having to update the whole group?

- I assume if I use a group password and try to update a hostname that is not associated to that group it will fail, correct?

Thanks a lot!

1. No. The group password can only be used when the group parameter is used.
2. Yes. To use the hostname parameter to update, you can only use the account password or IP update password.
